You will find Waterfield's hidden behind a red shop frontage in Clitheroe’s Whalley Road. It sells a wide range of Mediterranean products, including pasta, meat, cheese, oil and vinegar, and also local goodies, such as meat from Roy Porter, Leagram's organic cheese and free-range eggs from a nearby allotment. Proprietor Neal Waterfield has worked for Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White and Giorgio Locatelli in London. He has also been head chef at Northcote Manor and the Devonshire Arms. His wife, Joanne, has been "front of house" at Northcote Manor and has also worked at the Dalmeney in St Anne’s. Their aim is to provide people with the knowledge to prepare, cook and serve simple good Italian, Spanish or English food. Their ever-evolving business now encompasses a small tapas bar, with a monthly changing menu, sandwiches, pasta dishes and delicious ready meals. Regular customers will find new things to inspire them every time they visit, such as home-cooked ham, cured meat from a local farm, or a great new recipe for wild boar lasagne. Food for thought...
